On December 9, 1775, Culpeper Minutemen participated in the Battle of Great Bridge, the first Revolutionary War battle on Virginia soil. This battle can be seen as the first strategically important colonial victory over the British.

It is noted that in the newly identified Commonwealth of Virginia, Culpeper County had the highest overall population, and the second-highest enslaved population.

Enjoy English country dancing with a caller to a live quartet at historic Liberty Hall! True traditional country delight – under lite and fanned tents, you will enjoy the incredible beauty of the Blue Ridge Foot Hills perched on the ridge high above Liberty Hall’s polo field.

The Ball offers heritage-styled Hors d’oeuvres and spirits to finish off this gorgeous once-in-lifetime evening. Period costumes (Colonial to Romantic) or formal black tie attire recommended. Culpeper Minutemen’s Revolutionary War driving tour: 1775–1881

This driving tour focuses on visiting the Culpeper County homes or homesites, while telling about the importance and contributions, of some of Culpeper’s most important political and military leaders.
